Basket Meeting, 04/27/2010

At a basket meeting you don´t have pre-assigned roles. All roles of the evening are given into a basket like tickets and each member will draw at the meeting which role it will represent.

Thus every member might be one of the speakers or an evaluator or the Toastmaster of the evening.

An improvised meeting  - or not? Be sure that the advanced Toastmasters will make it some special meeting.

The Art of Effective Evaluation

March 25th & April 22nd 2008
2-evening workshop "The Art of Effective Evaluation" by Ellen Hermens:

All of us encounter situations in which we are supposed to give feedback on a performance or want to have somebody change a behaviour. As Toastmasters you know that evaluations are THE area which make Toastmasters unique. All those situations have in common that you are able to provide effective feedback which can be accepted by the listener.

For Toastmasters this program will give club members the knowledge, motivation and skills they need to become more effective evaluators.
For Non-Toastmasters this program will provide more than a good notion how to give effective feedback in all day situations.

You will learn:

  • Identifying reasons why people need to become more effective speakers
  • Recognizing the factors that contribute to the club's evaluation climate
  • Determining overall evaluation strengths and weaknesses
  • Building self-esteem through evaluation
  • Practicing evaluation skills

The presenter Ellen Hermens is SpeechCoach in her business advanc4you. She focuses her coaching on presentation training to support business people to optimize their presentation skills. Her knack is especially authenticity as only a speaker who feels the fire burning inside can ignite the spark in their audience. As experienced NLP Master and Coach she values highly feedback and as in Toastmasters evaluations. Ellen is an expert in providing effective feedback and narrow evaluations down to a point with constructive elements.
